Barion Brown is a wide receiver from Louisiana State University. He is 5’11 and 177 pounds. He started out his college career at Kentucky before transferring to LSU. He is from Nashville, TN, and attended Pearl-Cohn HS. He was 2024 First-Team All-SEC (Return Specialist) – SEC Coaches, 2024 Second-Team All-SEC (All Purpose) – SEC Coaches, AP 2023 Second-Team All-SEC (Return Specialist), SEC Coaches, and AP, and 2022 Freshman All-SEC – SEC Coaches and AP. Brown had a rib injury against Tennessee in 2024 that caused him to miss the second half of that game and the following game against Murray St., and a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the second half of the 2023 Georgia game.
Brown shows good straight-line speed, as he can get downfield and prove to be a deep-threat receiver against defenses. Vertical and post routes are the best routes that Brown seems most comfortable running. He also has a good catch radius considering his size. He is willing to go for the ball even if it is thrown above him. Brown also shows he can catch contested balls, allowing his quarterback to trust him more. He also makes decent cuts. The best part of his game is on special teams. Brown proved throughout college that he could produce on special teams. He returned 6 kickoffs for a touchdown during his college career, which is a record for the SEC and one shy of an NCAA record. Brown also averaged 29.4 yards per kickoff return and even returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown.
Brown, while proving to be a decent athlete, needs to build up his frame. At 177 pounds, he is lighter for his position. Brown needs to improve his route tree. He proves he can run deep routes and stretch the field, but he needs to improve his short and intermediate routes. He also doesn’t show dominant traits as a true wide receiver 1. He also doesn’t gain much separation from defenders. He also needs to improve his YAC ability, especially in screen plays. He needs to improve his awareness and not rely so much on his speed. He can also add more yards after the catch by improving his change of direction and making cuts to force defenders to miss in the open field.
Overall, Brown is a reliable receiver who will produce on special teams.

Scheme Fit and Team Fit:
Brown will fit well with a team that relies heavily on pre-snap motions, spread concepts, and screen plays. A good team fit would be the Lions and Rams
NFL Player Comp: Ray Ray McCloud III
McCloud and Brown share a similar frame and build, and are also both reliable 3rd receiver options and produce mostly on special teams.
Projection: Backup/Special Teamer
He has proven he can produce on special teams and will be an impact special teamer in the NFL.
Grade and Round Projection: 3.3, Day 3 Pick
Brown is most likely a Day 3 pick. I initially graded him as 3.8 but rounded down to a 3.3.
