Dr. Lonni Steven Wilson
Director of Master of Arts in Coaching and Sport Management program at Milligan University.
Dr. Wilson is an exceptional educator and mentor who goes far beyond the responsibilities of the classroom. His leadership of the program created an environment that emphasized both academic rigor and practical application within the sports industry. His ability to connect academic concepts with real experiences in the sports industry prepared students to transition confidently into professional roles.
Since my graduation in 2024, Dr. Wilson has continued to serve as a mentor as I have pursued opportunities in professional baseball. He has generously provided guidance, encouragement, and industry insight that have been invaluable to my professional development. His willingness to invest time in his students’ success speaks volumes about his character and commitment as an educator.
What distinguishes Dr. Wilson most is his genuine investment in the people he teaches. He understands that education extends beyond coursework and actively works to help students grow as professionals and leaders. His mentorship has had a lasting impact on my career, and I know many members of my cohort share similar experiences.
Lonni Wilson from Milligan University is an incredible professor and mentor who had a lasting impact on me. I will never forget our first conversation on the phone. Lonni had to call each of us who were interested in joining the Sports Management master’s program. I’ve always been a straight shooter, so I told him honestly that I was mainly doing the program so I could play another year of baseball. Lonni laughed and said he appreciated the honesty. He also told me, “You’re going to love this course.” My immediate thought was, “Love school? No way.”
Looking back now, he couldn’t have been more right. I genuinely enjoyed every class and every lecture. I even found myself enjoying the homework. We read a lot of case studies that I was able to apply to my life and career almost immediately.
Fast forward to today, and I am now the Director of Baseball Operations for my company. I truly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the impact Lonni Wilson had on me during that time. His mentorship and passion for the program helped shape the path I’m on today.

Lonni Wilson should be nominated for this award because he is the epitome of being a great human being, more than just a teacher and coach. He’s a mentor that’s done more for his students than even universities themselves. He is a grand example of what a perfect teacher looks like, even with his skateboard.
It is an honor to nominate Rochester Christian University Sport Management Professor Luke Beach for the Professor of the Year Award. Professor Beach works tirelessly to provide his students with a meaningful experience both inside and outside of the classroom. He is warm, caring, and engages with his students on a personal level, creating an environment where everyone feels supported and valued.
Professor Beach brings his experience from the professional world into the classroom, helping prepare students to become successful professionals while also reminding us of the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. His assignments are thoughtfully designed to help students develop practical skills that directly translate to the workplace.
He is also committed to connecting students with professionals currently working in the sport industry. Professor Beach regularly brings in guest speakers from various sectors of sport and organizes site visits to professional, collegiate, high school, and sport performance facilities so students can see the industry firsthand. In addition, he hosts professional panels and internship fairs that provide valuable networking opportunities and help prepare students for their future careers.
Professor Beach makes a point to know all of his students by name and takes the time to build meaningful relationships with them. He ensures that every student feels welcomed and comfortable in his classroom and consistently goes above and beyond to recognize students for their accomplishments. Each morning, he begins class by highlighting and celebrating what students are doing both inside and outside of the classroom.
I cannot say enough good things about Professor Beach. His dedication to his students, his passion for teaching, and his commitment to helping students succeed make him truly deserving of the Professor of the Year Award.

Taylor deserves this award as he brings new and exciting sport opportunities into our studies but also in extra curricular activities. He hosts sports club every Thursday evening taking time out of his own day to make sure we can all come together and create fun opportunities to get ourselves experience within the sports journalism industry. He is so passionate and dedicated which keeps us all motivated and wanting to do our best after we see how much work he puts in for us. He is always there with help and advice whenever we need it. He knows everyone’s names and make sure he get round to everyone so he can offer support within lessons and sports club. He set up Quays sport live which allowed us to broadcast live from 9 sports games and have presenters in the studio to create a BBC 5 Live show. It was so cool to be apart of it all and we never would of been able to do it without Taylor!
