How I Believe the Top 10 College Football Teams Will Finish the Season

Here’s my take on how the top 10 teams in college football will finish this season and how I see things playing out.

1. Ohio State
The number one team in the country, Ohio State, boasts the most talented roster overall with no glaring weak spots. I expect them to drop one game in a shootout against Penn State, but they’ll still make the College Football Playoffs. Finally, Ryan Day won against Michigan this year.

2. Miami
Miami is on pace to win out. They have an easy schedule ahead, and I don’t see any team capable of beating them. With the Heisman runner-up Carson Beck leading the offense and a defense playing better than anyone expected, Miami looks unstoppable.

3. Oregon
Oregon ranks third nationally, but I see two potential upsets on its schedule: Wisconsin and Iowa, with strong lineups. Oregon has a blazing offense, but I believe they’ll lose one of those games in a shootout.

4. Ole Miss
In my opinion, Ole Miss is the most overrated team this year. I predict they’ll lose three games and miss the College Football Playoffs. Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida all have good chances to beat them. The quarterback play has been too inconsistent to trust them in those key matchups.

5. Texas A&M
Texas A&M will win out. Their offense is among the best in the nation, and their defense has been playing lights out. This might be the hottest team in college football right now. Missouri will be their toughest test, but I don’t think Missouri can pull off the upset.

6/7. Oklahoma and Indiana
I won’t even give these two teams much attention. Both have had an easier schedule so far, will lose a game this year, make the playoffs, and then get eliminated in the first round. The strength of schedule needs to be a bigger factor when ranking the top teams.

8. Alabama
How hot can Alabama play? Ty Simpson looks like a future Heisman winner. Their only real challenge this season is this week’s game at Missouri. If Simpson continues his current form, Alabama will go deep into the playoffs.

9. Texas Tech
At number nine, Texas Tech doesn’t have much going for them aside from their strength of schedule. I see them losing to both Avery Johnson’s team and Kansas State.

10. Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia will win out after this week, but I expect them to lose at Auburn this weekend. Jackson Arnold is poised to have his best game of the season. It’s going to be close, but I have Auburn’s defense stepping up big in the second half.
