Can Arch Manning Lead Texas to the Playoffs in 2025?

The Texas Longhorns enter the 2025 season with sky-high expectations and a roster loaded with talent. At the center of it all is quarterback Arch Manning, whose every move will be scrutinized this year. Manning showed flashes of brilliance, but much of that came in comfortable blowout victories. This season, the challenge will be proving he can lead in high-pressure situations against elite competition.

Offensive Potential with New Faces

The most significant question mark on offense lies in the trenches. Texas will roll out a line that features two redshirt freshmen, two seniors, and a sophomore, a blend of youth and experience that will need time to gel.

The Longhorns saw plenty of offseason movement at wide receiver. Fresh talents like Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore Jr. are stepping up, while former Notre Dame transfer Emmett Mosley V brings a veteran presence and big-game experience. With Steve Sarkisian calling plays, the offense should be explosive, but its success hinges on how quickly these pieces mesh and how well Manning takes command.

Defensive Stability

While the offense has questions, the defense looks like one of the most reliable units in the nation. Veteran leadership is everywhere, and middle linebacker Anthony Hill is primed for a breakout year. Hill’s instincts, timing, and ability to read the game make him the defensive heartbeat of this team.

Special teams have seen their transfer wave, but the newcomers arrive with experience and proven ability. Depth and execution shouldn’t be an issue.

Playoff Dreams or Pressure Collapse?

On paper, this is a playoff-caliber team. However, a more challenging schedule and a young leader under center make the season’s trajectory far from certain. If Arch Manning can deliver when the stakes are highest, Texas has a legitimate shot at a national title run. If he falters, the Longhorns could find themselves on the outside looking in.
