Claiborne makes the most out of his 5’10” 188lb frame. He is elusive in open space, utilizing an effective jump cut to break into the second level. Claiborne has the patience and vision to be an effective in-between the tackles runner, and shows willingness to lower his pads through contact. Claiborne is at his best when running outside zone, as he has the ability to stretch horizontally with speed, and the vision to puncture open running lanes vertically. Claiborne is productive in the screen game as well, but his pass catching abilities must improve to become a consistent third down back at the next level. Wake Forest did not utilize Claiborne in pass protection much, so curious as to how he will fare in that department. Overall, Claiborne is a twitchy running back who will be a spark plug to any offensive scheme.

Scheme/Team Fit:
Claiborne play style is best suited for offenses such as the Miami Dolphins and San Franscio 49ers. Both offenses utilize a variety of wide zone concepts, and are heavy screen based schemes.

Projection/Player Comparison:
Claiborne’s player comparison is Nyhiem Hines as both players rely heavily on speed to create production, and also have a high win rate in open space. Claiborne projects as a backup at the next level primarily due to his size. He is a subpackage running back who operates well in space, and in the passing game.
Grade:
Claiborne grades out as a 4 out of 7, and is a projected 5th round pick. Claiborne’s size will limit his ability to become a three down back, but he has the speed to generate explosive plays in the passing game.
