Dae’Quon Wright is a 6 ‘4, 246-pound tight end out of Ole Miss. He is a former 4-star in the class of 2022. He was ranked as the 18th Tight End in his class. On June 28th, 2021, he committed to Virginia Tech, where he played in 2022 and 2023. On January 14th, 2023, Wright transferred to Ole Miss, where he finished his college career for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. In high school, he also played basketball and ran track, posting a 100-meter dash time of 11.14 seconds. During his four years in college, Wright totaled 113 receptions, 1,603 yards, and 9 touchdowns. At the 2026 NFL combine, Wright measured in at 6 ‘4, 246 pounds, 9.25 hands, 32.25 arms, and a 79-inch wingspan.

Wright is a big, smooth athlete who can line up at various positions. He ran a 4.55 40-yard dash and has good long speed with a solid first step. His strength is good; he can hold his own against bigger linemen, and he has a good, stiff arm. He possesses adequate processing, though he is a little slow to figure out what to do in the passing game. His willingness to block is good, and he also has good hustle; he played through a shoulder injury all of 2025. His long speed stands out more than his short-area quickness. Wright has good hand placement while blocking and a good initial punch; he holds onto the edge long enough to be effective in the run game. His run-game pulling is solid, and he is solid at sealing the edge. His timing while chipping could be better, and he is solid enough climbing to the second level for blocks in the run game.
Wright has an adequate break at the top of his route, as he takes too many unnecessary steps. His overall effort while running his routes is lackluster, and he needs to create more separation. He has a solid variety of route trees being highlighted by curls, drags, and flat routes. He is solid getting off the edge, and he is a north-south mover, allowing him to attack upfield quickly. In zone, he needs more consistency in finding the soft spot to allow the quarterback to find him. Overall, his hands are solid, and he has solid hand-eye coordination; however, he has 12 career drops, which may be a concern for a team, given his hand size is in the 22nd percentile for tight ends. His catch radius is average, with a 49th-percentile arm length. He doesn’t have much contested-catch production and doesn’t win enough at the catch point for someone his size.
Wright has good versatility, being able to line up in multiple positions. He can be beneficial in the passing game on play-action shots and drag routes. His production as a receiver has gotten better throughout his career. If given the ball in space, Wright will be able to use his build-up speed to get by linebackers. In the run game, his strong point is sealing the edge and blocking long enough for the running back to make a play. If Wright is put in a scheme that spreads out the defense and allows him to work in space, he will be a good role player in the NFL. He has all the tools needed in a modern tight end; it’s just up to the team that takes him to make him into a beast.
Scheme Fit and Team Fit: 12 Personnel/Spread formations.
Lions – The Lions lead the NFL in running 12-personnel sets, often using ace formations (two tight ends and two wide receivers), while moving the tight ends to confuse the defense.
Packers – The Packers use heavy 12-personnel sets, with their tight ends acting as hybrid receivers, allowing them to shift between run-heavy and spread-passing formations.
Chiefs – The Chiefs love to use 12 personnel against nickel defenses with Mahomes having a high success rate to his tight ends in these sets.
NFL Player Comp: Luke Musgrave
Wright compares to Masgrave in size and athleticism, both being around 6’5″ and 250 pounds. Musgrave is a better overall tight end, but there are parts of Wright’s game that are similar to Musgrave’s.
Projection: Backup/Role Player
Wright projects as a backup role player due to his inconsistency in the passing game. If he improves his route running and ability to sit in zone, he will be a good backup tight end in the NFL.
Grade and Round Projection: 3.75, Mid to Late 5th Round Pick
