Spencer Fano is a 6’6”, 308-pound offensive tackle from Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, who developed into one of the top offensive linemen in college football at Utah. Fano comes from a strong football background, with multiple family members having played at the NFL level, which helped shape his understanding of the game early on. He received multiple awards during his high school career, ranking as the 78th-best overall player, the 4th-best interior offensive lineman, and the top player in Utah. Although he started as an interior lineman, he demonstrated positional versatility by starting at both left tackle and right tackle during his time with the Utes. Fano became arguably the most decorated tackle that Utah has ever produced as he earned Freshman All-American honors in 2023, was selected as First-Team All-Big 12 and an All-American in 2024 and 2025, and also won the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year and the Outland Trophy in 2025. Across 2,200+ snaps in college, he was reliable and consistent, allowing only three sacks, seven hits, 30 hurries, and 40 pressures.

Fano possesses an athletic build which enables him to perform within his position because of his lateral mobility and quick feet, as well as his ability to accelerate downhill and in space. His shorter arm length and lean body type do not limit his performance; he moves and recovers well and uses his range to keep defenders in front of him, reducing pressure in both run and pass blocking. His play strength depends on how he uses leverage, whereas his movement skills enable him to perform effectively in space-based systems. Fano demonstrates advanced mental processing skills, which enable him to read defensive formations because he regularly identifies stunts, twists, and blitzes. He displays competitive toughness through his playing style because he maintains full effort during every play although he can react late against inside counter moves.
His technique, control, and movement make him an asset more than sheer power and strength. His strong hand usage is evident in his grip strength and his ability to use his hands independently to re-fit and control defenders. However, this part of his game can be inconsistent since he relies heavily on flash technique, which can disrupt the timing and striking placement against longer defenders. He works effectively as a run blocker because he understands both gap and zone concepts, as evidenced by his ability to run downhill and execute pulling and double-team blocks, although his limited power prevents him from being forceful at the point of attack. In space, his elite footwork enables him to reach assignments and climb to the second level while he maintains control against moving defenders. His pass protection work shows strong set points, as he mirrors his man, yet he struggles against counter moves from defenders with advanced pass-rush plans. More powerful defenders can collapse the pocket because their anchor becomes inconsistent when they fail to establish a complete base and leverage. Although he can play multiple positions on the field, his most effective performance comes from right tackle, despite his arm length suggesting he should move inside at the next level.
Scheme Fit and Team Fit
Fano fits a zone-heavy offense that emphasizes outside zone runs, play action, and other misdirection concepts that can highlight and allow for a great combination of his leverage, athleticism and footwork. The Dolphins, 49ers, and Packers are three teams that could use a player like Fano in the trenches, as they all have a need at guard/tackle, but need guys that can move well laterally and in space across zone concepts.
NFL Player Comp: Rashawn Slater
Fano compares well to Slater as a tackle who wins with elite movement, footwork, balance, and technique rather than overwhelming power. Both players shared similar concerns about their length and ability to handle advanced pass rush techniques coming out of college, and whether or not they would switch positions to inside.
Projection: Star Player
Fano projects as a high-level starter with the ability to develop into a star in a system that emphasizes movement and sound technique. His floor is a reliable starter who is inconsistent against power rushers, while his ceiling will be reached if placed in a system that can highlight his quick feet and spatial awareness.
Grade and Round Projection: 6.09, Early 1st Round
