Jake Slaughter Scouting Report

A 6’5”, 303lb redshirt senior from The University of Florida, Jake Slaughter is a veteran center with proven production in the best conference in the country. A native of Sparr, Florida, and a 2025 First Team All-SEC selection, Slaughter’s biggest strength is his intelligence. He has an extremely high Football IQ, allowing him to command the offensive line at an elite level.

In the run game, Slaughter moves his feet well and demonstrates good foot fire at the point of attack. Slaughter is also fantastic working double teams, particularly in duo concepts. He consistently demonstrates strong hip-to-hip positioning, and utilizes the correct leverage at all times. Slaughter has phenomenal bend when drive blocking, allowing him to displace defenders effectively. However, his approach at the second level often needs improvement, as he tends to lunge for contact rather than coming to balance and moving his feet to secure the block.

In pass protection, Slaughter shows a strong understanding of pass rush tendencies, and anchors well when he recognizes power rushes, demonstrating sound fundamentals in recognizing pass rush moves. Slaughter’s hand placement and timing are not always consistent, but when his hands are placed inside correctly, and his timing is right, Slaughter is a highly effective pass protector. Slaughter’s struggles come from when asked to work to the second level. His approach needs improvement, as he tends to lunge for contact rather than coming to balance and moving his feet to secure the block.

Overall, Slaughter is a prospect who can come into any NFL franchise and pick up the playbook instantly. Slaughter has all of the mental and physical tools to become an NFL starter. Improving in small technique areas will lead to a drastic improvement in his overall performance.

Scheme Fit and Team Fit:

Slaughter would thrive in an offense that relies heavily on inside zone, utilizing Slaughter’s elite combo run-block ability. The San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins are two teams that rely heavily on zone running schemes to be successful in their offensive attack.

NFL Player Comp: Jason Kelce

Like Kelce, Slaughter relies heavily on his Football IQ to put himself in the best position to wall off defenders, and command the offensive line unit. Both also demonstrate quick feet, and good  hip to hip positioning in the run game.

Projection: League Average Starter

Slaughter has the intelligence and durability to be a long-term starter in the NFL. Improving weight distribution and second level run blocking will take Slaughter’s game to the next level.

Grade and Round Projection: 4, 5th Round Pick

Slaughter grades out as a 4 of out 7, and is a 5th round selection.
