Dr. Alan Ledford
Professional Biography
Alan Ledford is the graduate program director and an associate professor in the Sport Management Department at Wittenberg University. He earned his doctoral degree in sport management from the United States Sports Academy, a Master of Arts in sport management from East Tennessee State University, and a Bachelor of Science in sport administration from Wilmington College.
Before joining Wittenberg, Ledford served as program director at Wilmington College and held roles as assistant athletic director, recreation specialist, and adjunct faculty member at Harrisburg Area Community College. He has coached baseball and basketball at both the high school and collegiate levels and has experience in intramural and recreational sports. A 2002 graduate of Wilmington College, Ledford played four years on the baseball team.
Ledford’s teaching philosophy emphasizes connecting real-world experiences to the classroom. He believes that almost any event can be linked to the sporting or business world and that every student is unique. “I will respect every student, empower all students, and promote a positive atmosphere in the classroom.”
He leads student groups annually in working major events, including the NFL Super Bowl, the NCAA College Football National Championship, MLB All-Star Weekend, and NBA All-Star festivities.
Ledford resides in Clarksville with his wife, Emily, their daughters Riley and Reece, and their son, Jaxson.
