Rayshaun Benny is a 6 ‘4, 305-pound defensive lineman from the University of Michigan. He was a local pickup for the Wolverines, from Detroit, Michigan, and attending Oak Park HS, where he was also a 2-way player, playing both on offense and defense. He helped his high school win four playoff games his senior year and reach the district finals. Benny became a five-time letter winner at Michigan and was voted third-team All-Big Ten by coaches and the media in 2025. He also won Defensive Player of the Week 6 times in 2025. He did have a major injury in college. He broke his leg in the 2024 Rose Bowl, which caused him to miss the National Championship game. That affected his gam,e as that is a hard injury to recover from.

Benny is a versatile defensive lineman who can play all over the line of scrimmage. He is also a good athlete for his position and shows a strong effort on plays. On film, he shows he can play the 3 tech, 5 tech, and even the 0 tech, but he mostly plays the 3 tech, where he gets the most production. Benny does have a good frame and carries 305 pounds well. He extends his arms well when taking on blocks and maintains his gap, but he needs to improve his block shedding. Benny also has a decent get-off and motor when rushing passers. He bull rushes well and affects the pocket, but needs to improve on hand movement and placement. If he can improve his hand movement and finesse in the pass rush, it would make him a better player overall and expand his role on any team that drafts him.
Scheme and Team Fit:
I believe he fits best in a 4-2-5 or a 4-3 defense. He played a lot of 3-tech in college and is a proven run stopper. Teams like the Falcons, 49ers, and Bills could use him.
Projection: Backup Role Player
While Benny plays across the defensive line, he projects as a role player. He is a good player, but does not show elite traits. He will be a serviceable player and good in rotation when starters need a break.
Player Comp: Kris Jenkins Jr.
His player comp is Kris Jenkins Jr. Jenkins has a similar build and similar play style. A good run defender, but needs to improve as a pass rusher.
Grade and Round Projection: 3, Day 3 pick
Benny carries a 3 grade and projects to be a day 3 pick.
